Faculty - Fund Advisor

Gautam Kaul Gautam Kaul is Professor of Finance & Fred M. Taylor Professor of Business Administration at the Ross School of Business (RSB), University of Michigan. He is the main faculty responsible for the Fund. Specifically, he works with the student team, both individually and collectively, and University administration (Dean's Office, ZLI, Development Office, WDI, etc). He is responsible for admissions to the Fund and overseeing the investment process, and works closely with the Fund leadership to coordinate education.

Ricky is a third year MBA/MS candidate in the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise. Prior to entering the University of Michigan, he worked in retail buying roles at Amazon. There, he first managed cross-functional relationships with food & beverage companies, and later managed P&L for pet supplies product categories. He is passionate about improving the sustainability of foods and beverages we consume every day. Ricky holds a B.A. in Economics and Psychology from Northwestern University, where he graduated with Departmental Honors in Psychology.

Erdong Shi

Erdong is a second year MBA/MS dual degree candidate focusing on finance and data science. Prior to Ross, Erdong worked at HSBC for five years. She started as a management trainee and rotated in commercial banking, credit analysis unit and global markets. After the two-year program, Erdong took the role of corporate relationship manager, where she managed a portfolio of corporate clients in different industries, and provided comprehensive banking solutions. Erdong holds a B.S. in Statistics from East China Normal University.

Brittany Minor

Brittany is a second year MBA with an emphasis on strategy and finance. Prior to Ross, Brittany worked in social impact consulting in emerging and frontier markets across Sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean. She worked across several technical sectors including agriculture, education, governance and economic development, and health. Brittany holds an M.A. in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in International Relations and French from the University of Pennsylvania.

Pablo Torres Vargas

Partnership Manager

Pablo is a second year MBA student. He has a Bachelor degree in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP). Before Ross, Pablo worked on the investment arm of a construction company. He has experience in Project Finance and M&A deals in the infrastructure and energy industries in Latam, totaling over US$2B in transactions. Pablo is natively fluent in Spanish and has professional proficiency of Portuguese.

Natalie Fang

Education Manager

Natalie is a second year MBA focusing on marketing and entrepreneurship. Prior to Ross, Natalie worked in retail as a global sourcing professional at Target and Vera Bradley where she was able to see firsthand the social & economic impact of retail in developing countries, such as those in Southeast Asia. Natalie holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Japanese studies from the University of Notre Dame.

Stephen Liuzza

Stephen is a second year MBA with an emphasis on finance and strategy. Prior to arriving on campus, Stephen spent nearly eight years in management strategy consulting and corporate finance roles within the equipment manufacturing (CAT, GE) and energy (Entergy) industries. After he graduates, Stephen will be joining William Blair in Chicago as an investment banking associate in the Consumer and Retail group. Stephen holds a B.S. in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University.

Appoorv Tiwari

Appoorv is a second year MBA. Prior to Ross, Appoorv spent seven years in management consulting working in 4 continents. He has worked primarily with clients in telecom and technology industries. He has experience in organisation design, business process transformation, technology implementation and go-to-market strategy. He holds B. Tech. in mechanical engineering from IIT Delhi and is natively fluent in English.

Michelle Yi

Michelle is a second year MBA focusing on business and data analytics. Prior to Ross, she was an Engineer Officer in the U.S. Army, deploying to Kuwait, Korea, and Afghanistan during her 8-year military career. She recently completed a summer internship in strategic marketing for a Fortune 500 building materials and manufacturing company. Michelle holds a B.A. in American Studies from Wellesley College and an M.S. in Geological Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Jonathan Rodriguez

Jonathan is a second year MBA/MPP dual degree candidate with an emphasis in strategy and concentrations in business analytics and quantitative analysis. Prior to Ross, Jonathan worked in the social impact sector for five years across several areas, including higher education, global health, and economic development. His experience includes conducting economic analysis for a domestic policy organization, and working in operations and grants/contracts services for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Jonathan holds a B.A. in Theology from Boston College.

Lawrence Chen

Lawrence is a second year MBA with an emphasis in strategy and finance. Prior to Ross, Lawrence worked in the social impact sector focusing on developing social enterprise business models across food security, education, and financial inclusion issue areas. Between his two years at Ross, he worked at Boston Consulting Group as a Summer Consultant. Lawrence holds a B.A. in Religious Studies and Communication Studies from Westmont College.

Naja Edwards

Naja Edwards is a second-year MBA student from Chicago, IL focusing on business and data analytics. Prior to Ross, Naja worked for Boeing as a Propulsion Engineer, for both military and commercial programs. During her time at Ross, Naja has worked with the United Nations on a economic development project in the Pacific Islands, and has also been involved in the entrepreneurship and VC network, most recently visiting startups and VC firms in Tel Aviv, Israel. She completed her summer internship at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Product Manager - Technical intern working on a cloud security and compliance product. Naja holds a Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois.

Greg Phillips

Greg is a third year MBA/MS candidate with an emphasis on sustainability strategy and finance. Prior to graduate school, Greg worked in the Obama administration where he led the enegy and environment correspondence portfolio. For his two internships, Greg worked with CleanCapital, a renewable energy financing firm, and AES Next, the clean technology innovation and investment arm of a global energy company. Greg holds a B.A. in environmental studies from Carleton College.

Saba Alemnew

Saba is a first year MBA candidate focused on finance, strategy, and entrepreneurship. Prior to Ross, Saba worked at investment advisory firm in Ethiopia focusing on foreign direct investments. As part of her role she assisted local entrepreneurs raise capital from foreign investors. She began her career at a healthcare consulting firm focusing on revenue cycle optimization for hospitals. Saba holds a B.A. in International Relations from U.C. Davis.

Brooke Bonnema

Brooke Bonnema is a third-year JD student at the University of Michigan Law School. She serves as a Legal Associate on the International Investment Fund and will be joining Mayer Brown’s Chicago office as a finance attorney, focusing on international investment in Latin America. Prior to joining the fund, Brooke graduated with honors in International Development and Political Science at Calvin University. She also worked for a non-profit and as a law clerk for the UNHCR in Mexico City, focusing on immigrant rights.

Corey Stearns Bourbonais

Corey Stearns Bourbonais is a first year MBA student focused on strategy and finance. Prior to Ross, Corey worked at Berxi, an insurance-technology startup, where she built and managed the sales and service operation. Prior to Berxi, she spent two years at Liberty Mutual working on cross-functional customer experience strategy projects to improve Net Promoter Score (NPS) for home and auto insurance customers. Corey holds a B.A. in Sociology from Princeton University.

Douglas Ely

Doug is a student at the University of Michigan, focusing on sustainable systems. Doug most recently worked at Ashoka, where his work has included the design and implementation of leadership development initiatives for social entrepreneurs worldwide as well as leadership of Ashoka Changemakers. Doug has also developed national educational outreach programs for undermatched students, taught middle school math and science and produced training programs with other social innovators around the world about wellbeing and resilience in the social entrepreneurship space. In his free time, he enjoys being active in the outdoors and exploring the world with his partner, Meera. In addition, you will find him adventuring in nature, running and hiking and overall being present with loved ones. Doug holds a B.S. in International Relations, Environment and Development from Boston University.

Eui Hun (Chris) Jung

Chris is a first year MBA student focusing on finance and strategy. Prior to Ross, Chris worked at HSBC as a debt capital markets investment banker, providing debt financing solutions and executing bond deals in the primary market. During his career, Chris has managed a number of benchmark impact financing projects including green bonds and social bonds, creating new markets for Korean companies. He also served as a volunteer for an international development agency and several other non-profit organizations working for emerging markets. Chris holds a B.A. in Economics from New York University.

Rohan Kalra

Rohan is a first year MBA candidate focusing on finance and entrepreneurship. Prior to Ross, Rohan worked at Deutsche Bank for seven years. He started as a Business Analyst in the IT department before moving into a corporate finance role as a Loan Portfolio Risk Manager. Rohan holds a B.S. in Information Systems and Economics from Carnegie Mellon University.

Stephen Kendall

Stephen is a first year MBA student focusing on marketing and strategy. Prior to Ross, Stephen was based in London, UK working in market research consulting. He has worked with major multinational clients on market sizing, competitive landscape, innovation, and company profiling projects that were incorporated into new product entry and M&A decisions. He started his career working in international corporate strategy at a major international aerospace & defense company. Stephen holds a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.

Danielle Miller

Danielle is a first year MBA candidate focusing on strategy and corporate finance. Prior to Ross, Danielle spent four years working in hedge fund and private equity fund services in New York City at Citibank and Neuberger Berman. In these roles, she supported retail and institutional clients across alternative asset products. Prior to financial services, Danielle spent two years working for a luxury retail startup alongside the CFO, helping expand retail footprint across the southern United States and Carribbean. Danielle holds a B.B.A from Northwood University.

Marites Seitz

Marites is a first year MBA candidate focusing on data and business analytics. Prior to Ross, Marites worked in advisory roles, first in tax, then at a high-growth tech startup in software implementation consulting. As part of her role, she led cross-collaboration between the product and implementation teams and advised both enterprise and SME clients on best practices and benchmarking. She is now pursuing roles in strategy consulting. Marites holds a B.A. in History from UCLA.

Devina Sial

Devina Sial is a first-year MBA student focused on strategy and data dnalytics. Prior to Ross, Devina worked as a Senior Consultant with EY in their People Advisory Services. Before EY, she worked with an early stage EdTech start-up and Nestle. At Nestle, as an HR Business Partner, she supported business leaders in building high-performing organizations and improving the capability and productivity of teams. Devina holds a Masters degree in Human Resource Management from XLRI Jamshedpur and a B.E. in Chemical Engineering from BITS Pilani.

Arvind Sivakumaran

Arvind is a first year MBA candidate focusing on strategy and operations. Prior to Ross, Arvind worked in Product Development at the Ford Motor Company. His work there primarily involved solving high-profile cross-functional engineering issues with global scope. He has delivered projects with major strategic and business impact with high management visibility. Arvind also holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University - Chennai and a MSE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He is natively fluent in Tamil.

Amanda Spinner

Amanda is a first year MBA candidate focusing on energy and strategy. Prior to Ross, Amanda spent a year and a half at a Virtual Reality Start-up working as a program manager. Her work there primarily involved project managing the creation and implementation of corporate training experiences and working with strategic clients to better integrate Virtual Reality into their training suite. She also worked for 2.5 years at an Advertising Technology company in New York where she manage advertising campaigns and also consulted with clients on how to better use the advertising platform of her company. Amanda holds an MA in Sociology and a BA in Economics, both from Stanford University.

Risa Suenaga

Risa is a first year MBA candidate focusing on finance and innovation. Prior to Ross, Risa worked for the Financial Services Agency of the Japanese government. She managed several international projects including financial innovation, crypto-assets, Brexit, and sustainable finance. Risa holds a bachelor’s degree in Law and Political Science from the University of Tokyo.

Mia Rose Pskowski

Mia Rose is a first year MBA student focusing on strategy and social entrepreneurship. Prior to Ross, she worked as a Senior Manager at African Leadership Academy, a pan-African leadership and entrepreneurship development school. As part of her role she managed strategic projects in alumni programming supported students in universities around the world. She is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served as a Health Educator for two years in the SouthWest region of Cameroon. Mia Rose holds a B.A. in Political Science from U.C. Berkeley.

Sonal Thawani

Sonal is a first year candidate at Ross focused on strategy, healthcare, and data analytics. Prior to Ross, Sonal spent 6+ years in early-stage and maturing technology start-ups as a product manager and marketer. In her most recent role, Sonal was responsible for the global go-to-market strategy of a $40M enterprise software line. In previous roles, she has launched and led marketing, product, and customer success teams. Energized by the "growing pains" of SMEs and the role of technology in economic development, she is excited by the opportunity to work with small businesses in emerging markets. She holds a B.A. in International Relations and South Asian Studies from Rutgers University.

Janet Wee

Janet is a first year MBA candidate focused on strategy and business analytics. Janet started her career as a Teach For America corps member teaching kindergarteners in Baltimore City. Afterwards, she worked in development, managing a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and public grants for TFA. Just prior to Ross, Janet held a marketing role at Sunrise Senior Living, leading brand campaigns, turnaround strategies, and business development initiatives for communities across the US and Canada. Janet holds a A.B. in Government from Harvard University and an M.S. in Educational Studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Education.

Matt Williamson

Matt is a first year MBA student focused on finance and strategy. Prior to Ross, Matt was a financial consultant in the Disputes & Investigations group at Duff & Phelps. He consulted for several top tier law firms, managing engagements focused on M&A, bankruptcies, antitrust, and other commercial litigation cases across a variety of sectors. Matt is a CFA charterholder and holds a B.S. in Finance and Mathematics from the University of Richmond.
